These Terms of Service govern your use of Scan Translator, including our website, extension, APIs, and related features. By using the service, you agree to these terms.

1) Service Operator

Scan Translator is an independent online service operated from Europe (European Union).

2) Eligibility and Account

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use the service.
  • You are responsible for keeping your account access secure.
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account.
  • We may suspend or ban any account at our discretion if we detect abuse, fraud, suspicious behavior, or misuse.

3) Service Scope and AI Limitations

Scan Translator provides AI-assisted image translation features, including text recognition, translation, and rendered output. Because these features rely on machine learning models and external providers, results are not guaranteed to be perfect.

  • Translations may contain mistakes, omissions, or awkward phrasing.
  • Text detection and translations may sometimes fail, be incomplete, or produce incorrect results.
  • Some text regions may be partially detected, merged together, or not detected at all.
  • Some text may remain untranslated when the underlying models or providers refuse certain content under safety policies, for example explicit, violent, or otherwise restricted content.
  • Rendered output can include layout issues, such as text extending outside a speech bubble, imperfect alignment, or multiple text regions merged into one block.
  • The service is continuously improved, but no output should be treated as guaranteed accurate or complete without your own review.

4) Credits, Billing, and Purchases

  • New accounts receive a one-time welcome credit grant, currently 30 credits.
  • Paid usage can use one-time credit packs or an unlimited monthly subscription.
  • One translated image costs one credit when credits are used.
  • Purchased credits never expire.
  • The unlimited subscription is billed monthly and can be canceled through the Stripe Customer Portal.
  • The unlimited subscription includes 20,000 fast translations per month.
  • After 20,000 fast translations in a month, translations are not blocked. You can keep translating, even without credits, but it may be slower when busy.
  • The monthly limit resets every month. Paid credits can be used in addition to the subscription to keep fast translations when available.
  • Bulk translation is included in the subscription but remains subject to anti-abuse limits, queue backpressure, and operational rate limits.
  • Prices, packs, and promotional offers may change at any time.

5) Refund Policy

  • You can request a refund by contacting support.
  • Refunds are usually possible for unused or mostly unused credits.
  • Refunds are generally not available when most purchased credits have already been used.
  • Refund decisions remain at our reasonable discretion, including anti-fraud checks.

6) Service Availability and Priority

  • Service quality may vary depending on traffic, infrastructure load, and third-party providers.
  • Temporary interruptions may occur due to incidents outside our reasonable control, for example provider outages or network issues.
  • During heavy traffic, free users may experience slower processing or reduced performance.
  • Paying users are prioritized for processing capacity.
  • Fair use and operational limits help keep the service stable, protect shared capacity, and prevent heavy or automated usage from slowing it down for everyone.
  • Unlimited subscribers within their 20,000 monthly fast translations and paid-credit jobs can receive fast translations.
  • After that monthly limit, translations still work, but may be slower when busy. Bulk jobs may also be slower.
  • We may update, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

7) Acceptable Use

  • Do not use the service for unlawful, abusive, or infringing content.
  • Do not scrape, harvest, or automate unauthorized extraction of data or outputs from our website or extension.
  • Do not attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt, or overload the service.
  • Do not bypass rate limits, access controls, or anti-abuse protections.

8) Your Content

  • You are responsible for the content you upload and must have the rights required to use it.
  • You keep ownership of your content.
  • You grant us only the limited rights needed to process and return translated results.

9) Third-Party Services

Parts of the service depend on third-party providers, including Stripe for payments, Cloudflare for storage and delivery, and external text recognition or AI providers for some translation steps. Stripe handles payment details directly; we do not store raw banking or card details, account passwords, or IP addresses in our own systems. 10) Disclaimer

The service is provided as is and as available. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, perfect output quality, or error-free operation, especially when failures are caused by third-party services or events outside our control.

11) Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scan Translator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, profits, or business opportunities.

12) Updates to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after updates means you accept the revised version.

13) Termination

You can stop using the service at any time. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate any account at any time if we detect violations, suspicious behavior, abuse, or any risk to the platform.

14) Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction of the service operator, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction apply.
